Buhari: My Health Improved After Leaving Office as President

Buhari Mohammadu

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that his health has significantly improved since stepping down from office on May 29, 2023.

Speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders' meeting held at the Katsina State Government House, Buhari reflected on the toll his presidency took on his health, suggesting the demands of governing a complex nation like Nigeria contributed to his health challenges.

He said, “Those outside the corridors of power do not understand the complexities and difficulties facing Nigeria. My health has improved since leaving office. People who visited me told me I look better than before.”

During his tenure as President, Buhari faced persistent health challenges, which required him to seek medical treatment abroad on multiple occasions. Despite this, he completed two terms in office before handing over to his successor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Buhari’s remarks highlight the intense pressures associated with leading Africa's most populous nation and suggest a sense of relief and recovery since returning to private life.
