The Kaduna State Police Command has commenced the enforcement of the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for motor vehicles, effective February 1, 2025.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed that the enforcement aligns with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has ordered full enforcement to ensure compliance with the compulsory insurance policy, which serves to protect road users against liabilities arising from accidents involving insured vehicles.
"The Kaduna State Police Command urges all vehicle owners and motorists to ensure they possess valid Third-Party Insurance coverage as soon as possible. Defaulters will face appropriate penalties as stipulated by law," Hassan stated.
The police emphasized that the enforcement is crucial for public safety and to minimize the financial risks associated with road accidents.
"We want to ensure that all vehicle owners and motorists are protected in case of an accident. The Third-Party Insurance Policy is mandatory, and we will ensure that everyone complies with it," Hassan added.
The command advised motorists to obtain valid insurance coverage from accredited insurance providers to avoid legal penalties.
