The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has strongly condemned the recent remarks made by former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued on Saturday by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Deputy President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the group described Amaechi’s comments including his call for the use of “brutal force” to seize power in 2027 as reckless, divisive, and a threat to democracy.

Ohanaeze made it clear that Amaechi’s remarks do not reflect the views of the Igbo people, emphasizing that the organization would never support any political conspiracy aimed at destabilizing a democratically elected government.

“Amaechi’s outrageous call for Nigerians to resort to ‘brutal force’ in an attempt to remove President Tinubu in 2027 contradicts the principles of civility, democracy, and peace that we uphold,” Isiguzoro stated.

He further criticized Amaechi’s assertion that politicians must be willing to "steal, maim, and kill" to retain power, calling it a dangerous rhetoric that threatens the foundation of Nigeria’s democracy.

Ohanaeze reaffirmed its commitment to peace, democracy, and national unity, urging political leaders to engage in responsible and constructive discourse rather than inciting violence and political instability

“We strongly condemn the reckless and incendiary comments made by Chibuike Amaechi against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Such statements do not align with the values of the Igbo people or the principles of democratic governance,” Isiguzoro concluded.

  2. It seems the Igbos don't really know what they want.

Should I say that their Ohanaeze are making political statement because what Amaechi said is in order. We can't continue like this.
